Mentor Coaching

In any profession it can be helpful to have a mentor—someone who helps you learn from their experiences on a similar path. For certification in the International Coach Federation, mentor coaching is a requirement. I am qualified to work with coaches seeking Associate Certified Coach (ACC) or Professional Certified Coach (PCC) status.

The mentor coaching relationship involves my listening to and assessing recorded conversations of your work with clients, then our discussing those conversations. I also provide you written feedback as appropriate. We’ll look at questions like:

  • How well do you demonstrate the ICF coaching competencies and ethical code?
  • What are your strengths to build on?
  • What other possible ways might you enter a discussion topic?
  • What alternative questions might you ask?
  • How can you take the conversation deeper?

I may offer exercises for you to practice or suggest other tools or resources that can help you refine your skills.

Having your conversations listened to can feel awkward at first, but by the end of our time together, hopefully, you will feel validated and celebrated for your gifts and respectfully nurtured and encouraged in areas where you can grow.

The paths to ACC and PCC require 10 hours of mentor coaching. I can work with you individually or, if enough individuals are interested at the same time (e.g., from the same coach training program), we can set up a mentor coaching group.
